Abe’s Apartments is a list that started with one apartment and is continually being added to until it covers every apartment in Austin. I created this out of the frustration of looking for apartments online. Large apartment searches are only incentivized by the large apartment complexes who pay the websites in order to get priority on the searches. These searches and websites have no incentive to list the smaller apartments or even the larger apartments who do not pay for this advertising. This is why when you search for an apartment in Hyde Park or South Congress or French Place, you get shown an apartment in the Arboretum or Round Rock- that apartment is paying to be put there. This is how my site came to be.
This is a list. It is meant to give you phone numbers, addresses, maps and websites. You can find the general price of the apartment and find a good list of apartments in that area. Then you can see where it is, visit the website if they have one, and call them to speak to a leasing agent. As the website grows, as more and more people use it, as apartment complexes update their own info, and the more hits the site gets, the more time and money I can put into it to increase the search features. For the time being it is the first list of apartments in Austin.
I want the site to grow and include blogs, commentaries, more advanced searches, and a community online for people who live in apartments. In a couple years, once the site is up to my standards, I hope to make the money back that I have invested into it through advertising while NEVER compromising the integrity of the site.
